Michigan has already seen around 13 tornadoes in 2026, which is close to a full-year average. Two more touched down overnight in Mid-Michigan, causing damage in Durand and Bridgeport.

It was a wild night of thunderous storms last night with at least three confirmed tornadoes across the state, one of them sighted north of Lapeer County near M-53 and Deckerville Road shortly after 10 PM. There were a couple of unconfirmed sightings of tornadoes according to the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Department.

Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback declared a state of emergency in the wake of a giant tornado, which hit Wichita particularly hard late Saturday night. Miraculously there are no major injuries reported so far.
