Genesee County Police Situation Puts School in Lockdown

Schools are in lockdown, a popular local nature preserve is temporarily closed, and police are dealing with an armed domestic assault situation in Genesee County.

Mid-Michigan NOW reports there is a large police presence in the area, prompting Weston Elementary School to go into lockdown and For-Mar Nature Preserve and Arboretum to temporarily close. Genesee Township Police advised Weston Elementary School on Cashin Street to go into lockdown because of an emergency situation happening nearby.

At the same time, Genesee County Parks announced that For-Mar Nature Preserve and Arboretum, located near Davison and Genesee Roads, is closed because of an active police situation north of the park.

Non-Compliant Suspect With Weapons in Burton

Michigan State Police confirmed to Mid-Michigan NOW that there is an active situation in the area and that additional information would be released as the situation develops. The Michigan State Police Third District provided additional details, saying officers are responding to a domestic assault complaint involving weapons on Egleston Street near Potter Road in Burton.

According to MSP, officers are currently in contact with a non-compliant suspect and are working to safely resolve the situation. Police have asked the public to avoid the Egleston Street and Potter Road area while officers continue working at the scene.
