A Toddler Pulled a Loaded Gun From a Backpack at a Michigan Daycare
The thought of a toddler pulling a loaded gun out of a backpack at daycare makes my stomach drop.
That’s exactly what happened Monday at Children’s World Early Learning Center in Canton. According to WDIV, the gun was still in its holster when the child took it out. A teacher spotted it, stepped in, and quickly secured it.
Thankfully, nobody was hurt, but I can’t imagine how tense those few seconds were.

The child’s dad is a police officer in a nearby community, but Canton’s police chief says it wasn’t his service weapon. One of the child’s parents has been arrested. Police are still trying to piece together how the toddler got hold of the gun.

The daycare says the family is no longer enrolled, and staff are now checking backpacks.
I can’t stop thinking about that teacher. A toddler pulled out a loaded gun in a room full of kids, and she saw it and stepped in before anyone got hurt. Thank God she did. Now we need to know how that gun got into the backpack in the first place.
