Taryn Asher Takes Legal Action Against FOX 2 Detroit
Former FOX 2 Detroit news anchor Taryn Asher is suing the station on sex discrimination charges.
According to Click On Detroit, Asher was fired in 2025 after 18 years at the station. The lawsuit alleges she raised concerns with Fox 2 management about unequal treatment involving her and her male co-anchor, Roop Raj.
The lawsuit also names FOX 2 Detroit General Manager Paul McGonagle, who joined the station in July 2025. Among the allegations are that several women were let go and later replaced by men.

According to the complaint, Asher is seeking:
- Back pay and future lost wages
- Lost benefits
- Punitive damages
- Compensation for mental and emotional distress
- Damages for harm to her professional reputation
