New Jester’s in Flint Unveils Mural Honoring George Zaravelis

A new mural honoring the late George Zaravelis has been completed on the side of The New Jesters building in Flint. Zaravelis owned the popular Genesee County bar and restaurant for 42 years.

It was a shock to the community when George passed away at the age of 67 on May 22nd, 2026.

The Zaravelis family continues to run The New Jesters just as George did, serving top-notch food in a fun and welcoming atmosphere. Now, when patrons arrive, they will be greeted by this awesome mural featuring George dressed as a jester.

Fittingly, anyone who knew George would probably agree that he was certainly a character. He had a personality that made him stand out and kept people smiling.

The mural was painted by Johnny Fletcher, who said he and George had discussed creating a mural together before George's passing.

I know I speak for all of us here at the radio station when I say it was always a fun day when George came in to record his commercials. You could never miss that unmistakable voice, and he always had a kind word and a smile for everyone.

This mural is a wonderful tribute to George and a great way to keep his memory alive. He is definitely missed by so many who knew him, but there is no doubt that he will never be forgotten.
