A couple of months ago, we told you a Kroger store in Flint Township was closing for good. Well, that day is here.

If the Carman Plaza location has been your regular grocery stop, this is your reminder that it’s time to find a new one. Today, September 30, is the store’s final day.

It’s the Kroger at G3288 Corunna Road inside Carman Plaza, just off I-75. We first covered the announcement back in July, when the closing date still felt a little ways off. Somehow, we’re already here.

And before anyone panics, the Kroger farther down Corunna Road at Dye Road is staying open. That was a big question when we originally shared the news.

Why Is the Carman Plaza Kroger Closing?

According to Mid Michigan NOW, Kroger says it’s closing the store as part of a company effort to cut costs and run things more efficiently. Basically, they say these changes will help the business in the long run.

If you shop there every week, though, it just means you’ve got to find somewhere else to get your groceries. That’s a pain when you’ve been going to the same place for years.

What Happens to the Flint Township Kroger Employees?

Thankfully, Kroger says every affected employee will have the opportunity to transfer to another location.

You get used to your grocery store. You know where everything is, recognize the cashiers and staff, and can get in and out without wandering around looking for the bread or whatever. Starting over somewhere else is a pain.
