Big Changes at Flint Farmers’ Market Are Getting Closer
I love the Flint Farmers’ Market. There’s nothing better than getting up on a Saturday, walking around, and picking up some tasty stuff for the weekend. And you’ll probably leave with more than you planned on buying. I know I usually do.
Now there’s going to be another reason to stop in. Actually, a couple of them.
We told you earlier this year about the upgrades planned for the market. Now construction is set to begin this month, and we know a little more about what’s coming.
What’s Coming to the Flint Farmers’ Market?

According to The Flint Courier News, about a third of the outdoor vendor stalls will become enclosed spaces for an MSU Spartan Dairy Store and a new restaurant with an outdoor patio.

Yep, MSU ice cream right here in Flint. I’m pretty good with that. Then again, I’m pretty good with ice cream in general.
The restaurant is still a bit of a mystery. More details are expected in spring 2027.
When Will the New Flint Farmers’ Market Businesses Open?
Both are expected to open in June 2027, with hours extending beyond the market’s regular schedule. The project also includes more loading and storage space for vendors.
Want a peek at the plans? An open house is happening today, Thursday, October 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. near the pavilion entrance, with free ice cream while supplies last.
Checking out the plans with ice cream in hand sounds like a pretty good deal to me.
