Big John Steak & Onion Donates $25K to Help Swartz Creek Fire Victims

Big John Steak and Onion made a generous $25,000 donation to the Salvation Army to help residents impacted by the recent fire at Crystal Lake Apartments in Swartz Creek.

The fire happened on Sunday, July 26th, 2026. According to Mid-Michigan Now, firefighters from several departments across Genesee County responded to the blaze, which displaced approximately 30 residents. No injuries were reported.

Big John Steak and Onion co-owner John Dickie presented the check to Rob Linker with the Salvation Army on behalf of the Big John family.

What a kind and generous gesture. Mr. Dickie told ABC 12 that he hopes this donation shows people that others truly do care. It certainly does.

As you will see in the video below, the donation will help provide food, clothing, shelter, and other essential resources to those affected by the fire. The fire reportedly started in a garage at the apartment complex. At this time, the exact cause has not been determined, and the incident remains under investigation.
